Selenium manufacturers

When purchasing Selenium, the purity level is the most critical factor, typically ranging from 99.9% to 99.999% (5N grade) depending on the application. For the glass industry, Selenium Powder is common, while the electronics industry requires High-Purity Selenium shots or ingots. You must verify the impurity profile, specifically monitoring levels of tellurium, iron, and copper, as these can significantly affect the chemical reaction or conductivity of the final product.

As a chemical element, Selenium must be accompanied by a comprehensive Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) or Safety Data Sheet (SDS) compliant with the GHS (Globally Harmonized System). For international trade, ensure the supplier provides a COA (Certificate of Analysis) for every batch. If the Selenium is intended for feed or food additives, it must meet ISO 22000 or FAMI-QS standards, and for general chemical safety, compliance with REACH (EU) or TSCA (USA) is essential.

The physical form impacts both processing efficiency and price. Selenium Powder (200 mesh or 325 mesh) is ideal for pigment manufacturing and glass decolorization due to its high surface area. Selenium Granules or Pellets are preferred for metallurgical alloying to reduce dust loss and improve handling safety. For thin-film solar cells (CIGS), specialized high-purity evaporation materials are required to ensure semiconductor performance.

Selenium should be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area away from strong oxidizing agents and acids. It is sensitive to moisture; therefore, vacuum-sealed packaging or double-layered PE bags inside steel or fiber drums is recommended. Ensure the supplier uses tamper-evident seals to prevent contamination during transit, as even trace impurities can render high-purity Selenium useless for electronic applications.

Selenium is often classified under UN 3288 (Toxic Solid, Inorganic, N.O.S.) for transport. You must ensure the supplier is experienced in Dangerous Goods (DG) packaging and possesses the necessary Dangerous Goods Declaration. When shipping to international markets, use freight forwarders specialized in chemicals to navigate customs clearance and ensure the cargo is not delayed due to improper labeling or lack of IMO/IATA documentation.

To secure your transaction, utilize Trade Assurance services on Made-in-China.com, which provide payment protection and quality safeguards. Always request a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) by a third party like SGS or Intertek to verify the purity and weight. Avoid suppliers who cannot provide a traceable batch number or those whose prices are significantly below the global market spot price (e.g., Platts or LME benchmarks), as this often indicates recycled or sub-standard material.

Selenium prices are volatile and tied to global mining output. Negotiate based on formula-based pricing linked to international benchmarks if you are a high-volume buyer. For smaller orders, seek volume-tier discounts (e.g., 500kg vs. 1 ton). Discussing long-term supply contracts can help lock in stable pricing and prioritize your orders during periods of market shortage.

Check the import tariffs and anti-dumping duties specific to your country for Chinese chemical exports. Ensure your company holds the necessary environmental or hazardous material import licenses. It is also vital to align with International Trade Policies regarding the 'Dual-Use' nature of certain high-purity minerals to avoid regulatory hurdles during customs entry.
