Wholesale hard candy lollipop manufacturers

When sourcing wholesale lollipops, you must prioritize suppliers with HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and ISO 22000 certifications to ensure food safety management. For specific markets, verify compliance with FDA (U.S.), EFSA (EU), or Halal/Kosher requirements. Ensure the manufacturer provides a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every batch to verify that heavy metals and microbial levels are within legal limits.

Focus on the sugar-to-glucose ratio; a high-quality hard candy should have a low moisture content (typically <2%) to prevent stickiness and ensure a long shelf life. Inquire about the heat stability of the candy to ensure it won't melt during tropical transit. If targeting health-conscious markets, look for natural colorants (e.g., anthocyanins, curcumin) and natural flavorings instead of synthetic dyes like Red 40 or Yellow 5.

Lollipops require moisture-proof individual wrapping, usually using BOPP or PET/PE films, to prevent clumping. For wholesale, the outer carton must be double-corrugated to withstand stacking pressure. Ensure the labeling includes nutritional facts, allergen warnings (e.g., soy, dairy), production dates, and expiration dates in the language of the destination country to pass customs inspections.

Most professional manufacturers on Made-in-China.com offer custom mold services for unique 3D shapes or embossed logos. For flavors, you can request R&D samples for regional preferences, such as sour coatings, fizzy centers, or exotic fruit blends. Note that custom shapes usually require a higher MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity) to cover the cost of new stainless steel molds.

The biggest risks are temperature fluctuations and humidity. Lollipops can undergo 'sugar bloom' or become sticky if exposed to high heat. It is highly recommended to use reefer containers (refrigerated) for long-distance sea freight or ensure the goods are positioned below the waterline in the vessel. Always purchase marine cargo insurance that covers 'sweating' and 'melting' damage.

Utilize the Secured Trading Service on Made-in-China.com to protect your payment until the goods are shipped. Before placing a large order, conduct a factory audit or hire a third-party inspector (like SGS or Intertek) to perform a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI). This ensures the candy matches the approved sample in terms of taste, color, and weight.

Negotiate based on volume tiers; candy production is highly automated, so increasing your order from 500 to 2,000 cartons can often reduce the unit price by 10-20%. Discuss packaging costs separately—switching from a printed tin box to a simple polybag can significantly lower the price if you are focused on the discount retail market.

Be aware of Sugar Taxes in certain jurisdictions and Anti-Dumping duties that may apply to specific sugar-based products. Ensure your supplier provides a detailed Ingredient List and a Health Certificate. Failure to declare specific food additives that are banned in your country (e.g., certain titanium dioxides) can lead to shipment seizure and destruction at the border.
