Seagate hdd manufacturers

Buyers must select the series based on the workload environment: BarraCuda is for general desktop use; IronWolf/IronWolf Pro is optimized for NAS (Network Attached Storage) with AgileArray technology; SkyHawk is designed for 24/7 surveillance systems with ImagePerfect firmware; and Exos is the enterprise-grade solution for data centers, offering the highest MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) and workload ratings.

Key metrics include Rotational Speed (RPM), where 7200 RPM is standard for high performance; Cache Size (e.g., 256MB), which affects data burst speeds; and Recording Technology, where CMR (Conventional Magnetic Recording) is preferred over SMR (Shingled Magnetic Recording) for heavy write workloads to avoid performance degradation. Additionally, check the Sustained Transfer Rate to ensure it meets your system requirements.

Ensure the products carry CE, FCC, and RoHS certifications. Most importantly, for Seagate drives, verify the Serial Number (S/N) and World Wide Name (WWN) against Seagate's official warranty validation tool. B2B buyers should request Certificate of Conformity (CoC) from suppliers to ensure the goods are not 'grey market' or refurbished units passed off as new.

Standard desktop and NAS drives use the SATA 6Gb/s interface, compatible with most motherboards. However, enterprise Exos drives may feature SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) interfaces, which require specific HBA (Host Bus Adapter) controllers or SAS-compatible backplanes. Always confirm the interface matches your existing server or storage infrastructure before bulk purchasing.

Hard drives are high-risk items for 're-labeling.' Always use Made-in-China.com's audited suppliers who provide factory-sealed anti-static packaging. Request a sample unit from the specific batch to run S.M.A.R.T. diagnostic tests (checking 'Power-On Hours') to ensure the drive is factory-new and not a wiped used unit.

HDDs are highly sensitive to physical shock and ESD (Electrostatic Discharge). Ensure the contract specifies individual anti-static bags placed within custom-fit foam slots (EPE foam), rather than loose bubble wrap. For bulk sea freight, specify palletization with moisture-absorbent silica gel to prevent corrosion during long-transit maritime humidity.

Standard Seagate warranties may be region-locked. Negotiate a Global Warranty agreement or a replacement credit (usually 1-2%) to cover DOA (Dead on Arrival) units, as shipping individual faulty drives back to the supplier is often not cost-effective due to high international freight costs.

HDD pricing fluctuates based on global NAND/component supply. Negotiate based on price protection clauses if the market price drops significantly between order and shipment. For orders exceeding 500 units, aim for Tier-1 distributor pricing, which typically offers a 5-8% margin reduction compared to standard wholesale rates.
