Perilla extract manufacturers

When sourcing Perilla Extract, the primary focus should be on the concentration of Rosmarinic Acid and Luteolin. Standard commercial grades typically range from 1% to 10% Rosmarinic Acid. For oil-based extracts, ensure the Alpha-Linolenic Acid (Omega-3) content is specified, usually exceeding 50-60%. Always request a Certificate of Analysis (CoA) to verify the extraction ratio (e.g., 10:1 or 20:1) and the solvent used, preferably water or food-grade ethanol.

To ensure market entry, suppliers must provide ISO 22000 or HACCP certifications for food safety management. For the US market, FDA registration and GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) status are critical. For the EU, compliance with REACH and Novel Food regulations may apply. Additionally, Organic (USDA or EU Organic), Kosher, and Halal certifications significantly increase the product's marketability in the health and wellness sector.

Purity is verified through Heavy Metal testing (Lead, Arsenic, Mercury, Cadmium) and Microbiological limits (Total Plate Count, Yeast & Mold, E. coli). Ensure the extract meets USP or EP standards for pesticide residues. It is highly recommended to use Third-Party Testing (such as SGS or Eurofins) to validate that the extract is free from adulterants like synthetic dyes or undeclared fillers like maltodextrin beyond the agreed percentage.

Perilla Extract is widely used in Dietary Supplements (capsules/tablets), Functional Beverages, and Cosmeceuticals due to its anti-inflammatory properties. For stability, the powder should be hygroscopic-protected and stored in cool, dry conditions away from direct light. Ensure the packaging uses double-layer food-grade PE bags inside fiber drums to maintain a shelf life of at least 24 months.

Suppliers on Made-in-China.com often offer tiered pricing. For Perilla Extract, MOQs typically start at 1kg to 25kg (one drum). Negotiate based on active ingredient concentration rather than just weight. Request a sample (10-50g) for lab testing before committing to a bulk order, and stipulate that the bulk shipment must match the sample's fingerprint (HPLC profile).

The biggest risks include species adulteration (using cheaper mint family plants) and solvent residue. To mitigate this, use Trade Assurance services to protect your payment until quality is verified. Ensure the Incoterms (e.g., CIF or DAP) are clearly defined in the contract to avoid hidden costs related to customs clearance and import duties for botanical products.

For small high-value samples, Air Express (DHL/FedEx) is preferred for speed and climate control. For bulk orders, Air Freight is recommended to prevent long-term exposure to heat and humidity found in sea freight, which can degrade sensitive polyphenols. Ensure the shipping documents include a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and a Phytosanitary Certificate to prevent customs delays.

Prioritize Audited Suppliers on Made-in-China.com who have undergone on-site inspections. Conduct a Video Audit of their extraction facility and R&D lab. Use Escrow-based payment systems where funds are only released upon the presentation of a Bill of Lading and a passed pre-shipment inspection report from a recognized agency.
