Magnetic sensor for elevator manufacturers

When sourcing magnetic sensors, you must prioritize sensing distance (typically 5mm to 30mm) and response time (less than 2ms) to ensure precise leveling. Look for sensors with bistable or monostable functions depending on your elevator control system. Additionally, ensure the housing is made of flame-retardant ABS or stainless steel to withstand mechanical stress and environmental factors.

Safety is paramount in elevator components. Ensure the products carry CE marking for the European market and UL/CSA certification for North America. Specifically, sensors should comply with EN 81-20/50 standards, which dictate safety rules for the construction and installation of lifts. Furthermore, an IP67 rating is highly recommended to protect against dust and moisture in the hoistway.

Modern elevator systems favor non-contact Hall Effect sensors or Reed Switches. Hall Effect sensors offer a longer operational lifespan (exceeding 10 million cycles) because they have no moving parts, making them ideal for high-traffic commercial elevators. Reed switches are cost-effective but require high-quality vacuum sealing to prevent contact oxidation over time.

Magnetic sensors are primarily used for floor leveling, limit switching, and door position detection. For high-speed elevators, sensors with high-frequency response and anti-magnetic interference shielding are necessary to prevent false triggers caused by the elevator motor's electromagnetic field.

Prioritize 'Audited Suppliers' who have undergone on-site inspections by third-party institutions like SGS or Bureau Veritas. Request a factory audit report focusing on their ISO 9001 Quality Management System and check if they have a dedicated testing lab for aging tests and magnetic flux consistency.

The primary risks include incompatibility with local control boards and damage during transit. To mitigate this, always request a sample for compatibility testing before placing a bulk order. Ensure the contract specifies anti-static packaging (ESD) and shock-absorbent materials to prevent sensor degradation during long-distance shipping.

Focus on Tiered Pricing; for orders exceeding 500 units, you should aim for a 15-20% discount. Negotiate for extended warranties (at least 24 months) rather than just a lower price, as the cost of replacing a faulty sensor in an installed elevator (labor cost) far exceeds the unit price of the sensor itself.

Since these are magnetic sensors, they may be subject to IATA Magnetized Material regulations if shipped by air. Ensure the supplier provides a Magnetic Test Report to confirm the magnetic field strength is within aviation safety limits. For sea freight, ensure the Incoterms (e.g., FOB or DAP) are clearly defined to manage customs clearance responsibilities in your specific country.
