Magnesium lactate manufacturers

Buyers must distinguish between Food Grade, Pharmaceutical Grade, and Feed Grade. Key parameters include Assay levels (typically 98.0% to 102.0%), Magnesium content (approx. 10% to 12% for dihydrate), and strict limits on Heavy Metals (Lead ≤ 2ppm, Arsenic ≤ 3ppm). For pharmaceutical applications, ensure the product meets USP, EP, or BP monographs to guarantee high bioavailability and purity.

For food and beverage applications, ISO 22000 or FSSC 22000 certifications are essential. If exporting to the US, FDA registration and GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) status are required. For European markets, compliance with REACH regulations and EFSA guidelines is mandatory. Additionally, Kosher and Halal certifications are highly recommended to expand market reach in the health supplement sector.

Magnesium Lactate is available as White Powder or Granules. The particle size (mesh size) significantly impacts solubility and flowability in manufacturing. Powder is preferred for instant drink mixes due to faster dissolution, while granules are better for tablet compression to prevent caking. From a logistics perspective, ensure the product is packed in moisture-proof PE-lined bags or fiber drums to prevent clumping during sea transit.

It is primarily used as a mineral fortifier in functional foods, sports drinks, and infant formulas due to its neutral taste and high absorption rate compared to inorganic salts. In the pharmaceutical sector, it serves as an electrolyte replenisher and a treatment for magnesium deficiency. It is also utilized in the cosmetic industry as a buffering agent and skin conditioner.

Always request a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) conducted by third-party agencies like SGS or Intertek. Ensure the Batch Number on the COA (Certificate of Analysis) matches the physical labels on the drums. For first-time orders, utilize the Secured Trading services on Made-in-China.com to ensure payment is only released upon verification of shipping documents.

Focus on Tiered Pricing based on volume; typically, orders exceeding 5 Metric Tons can secure a 5-10% discount. Negotiate Incoterms 2020 clearly—FOB (Free on Board) is often preferred for buyers with their own freight forwarders to control costs, while CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) is more convenient for smaller batches. Always ask for a validity period for the quote, as raw material costs for lactic acid can fluctuate.

Magnesium Lactate is generally classified as non-hazardous for transport, but it is hygroscopic. Ensure the supplier uses desiccants inside the container and provides palletized packaging with shrink-wrap to prevent shifting and moisture ingress. Verify that the HS Code (typically 291811) is correctly declared to avoid customs delays and ensure correct tariff application.

Stay informed about Anti-Dumping Duties (ADD) and specific import tariffs between the exporting country and your region. Check for Free Trade Agreements (FTA) that might allow for a Certificate of Origin (Form E or Form F) to reduce or eliminate import duties. Regularly monitor environmental regulations in the manufacturing hub, as sudden factory shutdowns for environmental inspections can impact lead times.
