Lavender tea manufacturers

Quality evaluation should focus on botanical variety, color, and aroma. High-quality lavender tea (typically Lavandula angustifolia) should feature vibrant purple or blue-violet buds; grey or brownish tints often indicate age or improper drying. The aroma must be intense, floral, and free of musty or chemical odors. For bulk orders, ensure the moisture content is below 10% to prevent mold growth during transit and storage.

As a food product, lavender tea must meet strict Phytosanitary and Food Safety regulations. Buyers should demand Pesticide Residue Test Reports (ensuring levels are within EU or FDA limits) and Heavy Metal Analysis (Lead, Cadmium, Mercury). Key certifications to look for include HACCP, ISO 22000, or Organic certifications (USDA/EU Organic) if marketing as a premium health product. Ensure the packaging complies with Food-Grade Material standards to prevent leaching.

The specification depends on the end-use: Whole Dried Buds are preferred for retail tea blends and decorative infusions due to their aesthetic appeal. Sifted/Crushed Lavender is more cost-effective for industrial extraction (essential oils) or tea bag production. If the tea is intended for the wellness or nutraceutical market, verify the Linalool and Linalyl Acetate content, which are the primary active compounds responsible for its calming effects.

Lavender is highly sensitive to light, oxygen, and moisture, which degrade its essential oils. For cross-border shipping, use vacuum-sealed aluminum foil bags or multi-layer kraft bags with PE liners. To optimize economic feasibility, consider purchasing in standardized bulk units (e.g., 10kg or 25kg cartons) to reduce the 'dead space' in shipping containers and lower the per-kilogram freight cost.

The primary risks include adulteration (mixing with spent buds or artificial dyes) and microbial contamination. To mitigate this, always request a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) and use Made-in-China.com's secured payment services to ensure funds are only released upon verification of quality documents. Be wary of prices significantly below market average, as they often indicate old stock with diminished essential oil content.

Focus on harvest cycles and price stability. Lavender is a seasonal crop; negotiating a Forward Contract during the harvest season (typically mid-summer) can lock in lower prices. Request tiered pricing based on annual volume rather than single-order quantity. Additionally, negotiate for customized mesh sizes or cleaning grades (e.g., 99% purity) to reduce your own processing costs upon arrival.

Lavender tea is often classified under HS Code 121190. Ensure the supplier provides a Phytosanitary Certificate issued by the exporting country's customs authority; without this, the shipment may be destroyed or returned. For shipping, choose dry containers (DC) and avoid proximity to odorous cargo, as lavender absorbs surrounding scents easily. For smaller trial batches, Air Freight is recommended to preserve freshness, despite the higher cost.
