Lamp chimneys manufacturers

The most critical factor is the thermal shock resistance of the glass. You should prioritize Borosilicate glass over standard soda-lime glass, as it can withstand high temperatures and rapid cooling without cracking. Ensure the glass is free of bubbles, streaks, and inclusions, which can cause structural weakness under heat. For high-end applications, specify a minimum wall thickness (typically 1.5mm to 2.5mm) to ensure durability during transport and use.

Precision in base diameter (fitter size) is paramount. You must provide the supplier with a tolerance range of +/- 1mm. Common sizes include 1-5/8", 2-5/8", and 3" fitters. Additionally, confirm the bulge diameter and total height to ensure proper airflow and heat dissipation, which prevents the flame from flickering or the glass from overheating.

For international markets, ensure the products meet ASTM E438 Standard Specifications for glasses in laboratory and industrial use if high heat resistance is claimed. For the EU, verify compliance with REACH and RoHS to ensure no hazardous lead or cadmium is used in the glass batch or decorative coatings. If the chimney is part of an electrical fixture, the entire assembly must meet UL (USA) or CE (Europe) safety standards.

Suppliers on Made-in-China.com typically offer custom frosting, sandblasting, or hand-painted designs. You can also request crimped (pie-crust) edges or straight-cut rims. For branding, laser-etched logos near the base are common. Always request a pre-production sample to verify the clarity and finish before committing to a bulk order.

Glass is highly fragile; therefore, you must mandate 5-layer corrugated export cartons and individual bubble wrap or EPE foam sleeves for each chimney. Request drop-test reports from the supplier. For large orders, palletization with plastic wrap and corner protectors is essential to prevent crushing during sea freight handling.

Focus on the yield rate and defect allowance. Negotiate a Quality Acceptance Limit (AQL)—typically Level II 2.5/4.0—where the supplier agrees to replace any units exceeding the defect threshold. Mention that you are sourcing via Made-in-China.com to leverage the platform's Audit Reports, which helps in identifying verified manufacturers versus middleman traders.

Use Secured Trading Services offered by Made-in-China.com to ensure your payment is only released after the shipping documents are verified. Avoid paying 100% upfront; a standard 30% deposit and 70% balance against the Bill of Lading (B/L) is the industry norm for established B2B relationships.

Be aware of Anti-Dumping Duties (ADD) that some countries impose on glassware from specific regions. Ensure the supplier provides a correct HS Code (typically 7013 or 9405) to avoid customs delays. For shipping to the US or Europe, Sea Freight (LCL or FCL) is the most economical method, but ensure the container is positioned in the middle of the vessel to minimize vibration.
