Green tea manufacturers

Quality evaluation should focus on sensory characteristics and harvest timing. For premium sourcing, prioritize 'Pre-Ming' (harvested before April 5th) or 'Pre-Rain' teas, as they offer the most delicate flavor profiles. Examine the leaf appearance (should be uniform in color and shape), the liquor color (should be clear, bright yellowish-green, not cloudy), and the aroma (fresh, grassy, or nutty depending on the variety like Longjing or Biluochun). Always request current-year harvest samples to ensure maximum freshness.

Compliance is the most critical factor in food sourcing. Ensure the supplier provides Pesticide Residue Test Reports that align with your target market's regulations (e.g., EU Maximum Residue Levels (MRLs) or US FDA standards). Key certifications to look for include HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), ISO 22000 for food safety management, and Phytosanitary Certificates issued by the exporting country's customs. For high-end markets, Organic Certifications (USDA Organic or EU Organic) can significantly increase retail value.

The 'fixation' (kill-green) method determines the tea's final character. Confirm if the tea is Pan-fired (common in Chinese green teas for a nutty, toasted aroma) or Steamed (common in Japanese-style teas for a vibrant green color and seaweed-like flavor). Additionally, discuss moisture content control; it must be kept below 5-7% to prevent mold growth during long-distance cross-border transit.

Green tea is highly sensitive to light, heat, and oxygen. For bulk B2B orders, require aluminum foil vacuum-sealed bags placed inside sturdy corrugated cartons or wooden crates. For retail-ready products, ensure the use of nitrogen-flushed packaging or oxygen absorbers to maintain a shelf life of 18-24 months. Avoid clear packaging that exposes the tea to UV light, which causes rapid oxidation and loss of flavor.

The primary risks include seasonal price fluctuations and quality inconsistency between samples and bulk shipments. To mitigate this, use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services to ensure payment is only released after quality verification. It is highly recommended to hire a third-party inspection agency (like SGS or Intertek) to perform a Loading Supervision and tea leaf sampling at the factory before the final balance is paid.

Tea pricing is volume-sensitive. Negotiate based on annual procurement volume rather than a single order to secure lower unit prices. For new buyers, suggest a tiered MOQ (e.g., a smaller trial air-shipment followed by a larger sea-freight order). Always clarify if the quoted price is FOB (Free On Board) or CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight), as tea is lightweight but high-volume, making shipping costs a significant variable.

For large sea freight orders, request 'High Cube' containers kept away from the ship's engine room to avoid heat exposure. Ensure the container is clean and odor-free, as tea leaves absorb surrounding smells easily. For premium grades, consider reefer containers (refrigerated) maintained at 0-5°C to preserve the 'fresh-leaf' aroma during the 30-45 day transit period.

Verify the supplier's Export License specifically for food products. Check for any Anti-Dumping duties or specific Tariff preferences (like RCEP or FTA agreements) between China and your country to reduce import costs. Always conduct transactions through reputable B2B channels like Made-in-China.com to utilize their supplier audit reports and dispute resolution mechanisms.
