Bulb manufacturers

When sourcing LED bulbs, prioritize Luminous Efficacy (lm/W); high-quality bulbs should offer at least 100-120 lm/W to ensure energy efficiency. Pay close attention to the Color Rendering Index (CRI), where a CRI > 80 is standard for general use, while CRI > 90 is required for retail or gallery settings. Additionally, verify the Driver Quality, as the driver is the most common point of failure; ensure it has over-voltage and over-temperature protection.

Compliance is non-negotiable for cross-border trade. For the US market, look for UL or ETL listing and Energy Star certification. For the European market, CE (LVD/EMC) and RoHS are mandatory, along with the latest ErP (Energy-related Products) ecodesign requirements. If you are sourcing from Made-in-China.com, ensure the supplier provides valid test reports from accredited third-party labs like TUV, SGS, or Intertek.

The lifespan of an LED bulb (typically 25,000 to 50,000 hours) depends entirely on heat dissipation. Inspect the Heat Sink material; aluminum (die-cast or cold-forged) is superior to plastic-clad aluminum for high-wattage bulbs. Request an LM-80 report for the LED chips and an LM-79 report for the integrated luminaire to verify lumen maintenance and optical performance over time.

For smart lighting, confirm protocol compatibility such as Zigbee 3.0, Matter, or Wi-Fi (2.4GHz). Ensure the supplier provides SDK/API support if you plan to integrate them into a proprietary smart home ecosystem. Check for flicker-free dimming (PWM vs. Analog) to ensure compatibility with various dimmer switches and to prevent eye strain.

Implement a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI). Use a third-party service to check a random sample (based on AQL levels) for luminous flux, color temperature consistency, and safety grounding. Never release the final 70% balance payment until the inspection report is approved. Sourcing through Audited Suppliers on Made-in-China.com can also reduce risk as their manufacturing capabilities are verified.

Negotiate based on component transparency. Ask for a breakdown of the LED chip brand (e.g., Bridgelux, San'an) and driver brand. For large volumes, aim for a 10-15% discount compared to sample pricing. If you are a startup, look for suppliers offering flexible MOQs (e.g., 100-500 units) for trial orders, but be prepared for slightly higher unit costs due to packaging customization.

Bulbs are susceptible to vibration and pressure. Insist on 5-layer corrugated outer cartons and individual color box packaging with internal plastic or foam inserts. For sea freight, ensure the use of desiccants (silica gel) inside the containers to prevent moisture from affecting the electronic drivers, especially during long-haul transit through humid tropical zones.

Ensure your logo and artwork are protected by a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before sharing design files. Verify that the supplier's bulb design does not infringe on existing utility or design patents in your target market (e.g., Philips or Osram patent portfolios). Request a Letter of Authorization if the supplier is using patented technology under license.
