Alabaster lighting manufacturers

Authentic alabaster is a natural mineral (gypsum or calcite) characterized by its translucent properties and unique veining patterns. When sourcing, ensure the stone is hand-polished to a smooth finish. High-quality pieces should have consistent thickness (typically 10-15mm) to ensure even light diffusion without visible 'hot spots' from the internal bulbs.

For electronic safety, products must carry UL or ETL certification for the North American market and CE/RoHS/LVD certification for the European market. Ensure the lampholders (E26/E27/G9) are made of heat-resistant ceramic rather than plastic, as alabaster can be sensitive to prolonged heat exposure. Additionally, verify the IP rating if the lighting is intended for bathroom or outdoor use (minimum IP44 recommended).

Natural alabaster is significantly heavier than resin and feels cool to the touch. Each piece of natural stone has unique, non-repeating veins; if multiple units have identical patterns, they are likely synthetic. Furthermore, natural alabaster is porous and translucent, whereas resin often looks 'flat' when the light is turned off. Always request a material authenticity report from the supplier.

Alabaster is a soft, porous stone. It should only be cleaned with a dry, soft microfiber cloth. Avoid all chemical cleaners, water, or damp cloths, as moisture can cause the stone to discolor or lose its luster. For B2B buyers, it is essential to provide clear maintenance manuals to end-users to prevent damage and warranty claims.

Alabaster is extremely fragile. You must mandate 5-layer corrugated outer cartons and form-fitted high-density foam (EPS/EPE) packaging. For bulk shipments, palletization with shrink wrap is non-negotiable. It is highly recommended to use Made-in-China.com's inspection services to verify packaging integrity before the balance payment is made.

Focus on long-term volume forecasts rather than a single order. Since alabaster is a natural material, price fluctuations occur based on raw stone availability. Negotiate a fixed price for a 6-12 month period by committing to a specific annual volume. Also, ask for spare parts (like extra stone shades) to be included at a discount to offset future replacement costs.

Always verify if the supplier is an Audited Supplier on Made-in-China.com. Use secured payment methods that offer escrow-like protection. Before placing a large order, request a factory video audit to confirm they have the specialized machinery required for stone cutting and polishing, rather than just being a trading company.

Check the HS Code (typically 940511 or 940521) for specific import duties in your country. Some regions may have anti-dumping duties on certain lighting categories. Ensure the supplier provides a Certificate of Origin to help you benefit from any applicable Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and reduce your total landed cost.
