Chilli sauce manufacturers

When sourcing chilli sauce, you must evaluate the Scoville Heat Units (SHU) to ensure the pungency level meets your market's preference. Key quality indicators include Brix level (sugar content) for flavor balance, pH levels (typically below 4.6) to ensure shelf stability, and viscosity, which affects pouring and application. Ensure the supplier provides a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every batch to verify these parameters.

As a food product, compliance is non-negotiable. Suppliers should ideally hold HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and ISO 22000 certifications for food safety management. For specific markets, look for FDA registration (USA), EFSA compliance (EU), or BRCGS (British Retail Consortium). Additionally, verify if the product requires Halal or Kosher certifications based on your target consumer demographic.

Standard commercial chilli sauce usually offers a shelf life of 12 to 24 months. You should clarify whether the supplier uses natural preservatives (like vinegar and salt) or chemical preservatives (such as Sodium Benzoate or Potassium Sorbate). Ensure the packaging—whether glass bottles, PET, or industrial drums—includes an oxygen barrier to prevent oxidation and color fading over time.

Professional manufacturers on Made-in-China.com often offer private labeling (OEM) and custom formulation (ODM). You can request adjustments in texture (chunky vs. smooth), sweetness-to-heat ratio, and the addition of unique ingredients like garlic, onion, or fruit. Always request a pre-production sample to conduct a blind taste test before committing to a bulk order.

The biggest risks are Customs rejection due to non-compliant labeling and microbiological contamination. Ensure all labels include ingredients in descending order of weight, allergen warnings, and nutritional facts in the destination country's official language. Use third-party inspections (like SGS or Intertek) to perform random sampling for heavy metals and pesticide residues before the shipment leaves the factory.

Chilli sauce pricing is heavily influenced by raw material seasonality (chilli harvest cycles). Negotiate for tiered pricing where the unit cost drops by 10-20% as volume increases. For new brands, look for suppliers offering a lower MOQ (e.g., 500-1000 units) for the first order to test the market, even if the unit price is slightly higher.

For glass-bottled sauces, prioritize heavy-duty corrugated cartons with internal dividers and ensure the pallets are shrink-wrapped and corner-protected. If shipping to hot climates, consider temperature-controlled containers (Reefers) to prevent fermentation or pressure buildup in the bottles. Always clarify Incoterms; FOB (Free On Board) is generally recommended for buyers who want better control over freight costs and insurance.

Utilize the secured payment services provided by Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released upon proof of shipment. Conduct a factory audit (either virtual or via a local agent) to verify the supplier's production capacity and hygiene standards. Avoid wire transfers to personal accounts; always ensure the bank account name matches the company name on the business license.
